JTT Sectionals - Northern Regional Results

The Sportime Champions (18 Advanced), YMCA Acers (18 Intermediate), and YMCA Devils (14 Intermediate) represented the Northern Region in the USTA Eastern Junior Team Tennis Sectionals at the Billy Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing Meadows, Queens, NY.   The Devils had to play Team Gritty first. Team Gritty went undefeated in the tournament and won the 14 Intermediates. Next up was the team from Metro - HJTEP. The Devils won 4 out of 5 events thanks to Stephen Potvin (Boys Singles); Jolie Chichak (Girls Singles): Claire Dooley (Girls Doubles and Mixed Doubles); Yurui Lin (Girls Doubles; and Vivek Venkat (Mixed Doubles). They finished with a match against a strong Long Island team (Waldwick Covered Courts). Waldwick was the only team to challenge Team Gritty. Summer Junior Team Tennis - Northern Region

  The Outdoor / Summer JTT league is now open for registration on Tennislink ( https://tennislink.usta.com/Dashboard/Main/ ) .  The name of the league is Capital District JTT Summer 2022 .  Please try to get your teams registered by 5/26/22 so that I can generate a schedule and get the kids on the courts.  If you have any questions or issues with registering your team please let me know--happy to help with registration and troubleshooting .  Once you have your team registered, registering the kids on the team can follow!   We have the following divisions in our summer league: 18A (advanced) 18B (intermediate) 14U 12U (yellow ball) 10U (orange ball; if teams would rather play green ball when they're playing each other, depending on the kids' experience, that's also fine)   At this point, our first day of matches at Central Park will likely be June 5th.  If there are teams ready to play prior to that,...

I entered a tournament - am I going to get in?

 Almost all USTA tournaments – junior and adult – have entry limits.  Most of our local tournaments never approach the limits.  The exception is the higher-level junior tournaments where kids will travel for the points.  Despite that, many of our players run into entry limits when they travel to tournaments.  There are a few things you should know about the entry limits. The tournament director selects players into the tournaments.  You will not be charged at this time if you are not selected.  Do not withdraw because you were not selected unless you are no longer interested in playing the tournament due to injury, illness, or personal circumstances.  If you are on the alternate list and get selected, the card will automatically be charged.   THE SELECTION PROCESS  Most tournaments that have a selection process use top-down selection.  Level 7's – the lowest tournament level where the results count towards rankings – use a bott...
