Tennis Lollapalooza

Image
The 2nd Annual Tennis Lollapalooza Fundraiser was held on May 7th this year.  The day was cloudy, and a bit cool, but that didn’t stop 28 players from filling 7 courts in Schenectady’s Central Park.  3 rotations of no-ad sets kept the mix of players changing and games challenging during the round-robin event.   Many participants showed up early to watch the pro-league Emerald team battle against the Sapphires.  3 of the 5 courts were played that day.  Sportime’s Philippe Ceas defeated former Alabama State Division 1 player Rod Williams in 2 sets.  The schedule for upcoming pro matches and the outcomes can be found on Facebook at Play Tennis Capital Region New York. $340 and a trunk full of food items were raised for the Food Bank of Northeastern NY.  Thanks to all who donated for your generosity!  Suzannah Dormond was the lucky winner of the raffle! The event was planned & hosted by Barb Glasser and Joe Flis.  editor@518tennis.com

Doubles is a whole different game than singles, so we had to do a lot of adjusting as we played. It’s great to be so successful in my senior year and share it with a younger partner. Aadi and I have meshed very well together on and off the court.” (Will Bievenue)       Masami Surisawa took third place in the singles with a win over Ashrith Rao, while Zain Magdon-Ismail and Will Fraser took 3rd place in the doubles by beating Roshan Mehta and Abhinav Thati.
