April Ten & Under Tournament Results

 It was an exciting day of tennis for the Orange Ball and Green Ball tournament

 players at SPORTIME Schenectady. We had some new tournament players and a lot of close matches. Kennedy Kelling provided more than her share of excitement as both of her round-robin matches went to 8-6 in the third set tiebreaker. 

Nine players competed at the Green Ball level, which Xavier Pulecio won. He defeated Vachan Prabhushettar in the playoff match. Joseph Listig-Sevi beat Kennedy in the Orange Ball playoff. It was great to see so many young players playing at such a high level and with such intensity. We will see these players competing at higher and higher levels for years to come. The next Orange/Green Ball tournament in our area will be on May 8th.

Local Juniors go on the Road

      This weekend many of our talented local junior tennis players went on the road to play in tournaments outside our area. Many traveled to Cornell to play the Level 5 Tournament there. Northern Region players filled the Boys 12 and Under draw. Aksel Kelling led the way. He got a bye in the first round and followed it up with a win over 6th seeded Devon Brougher and a win over Roger Sheng before losing to the top-seeded Prayush Malliah. "I love playing my friend Roger and the sportsmanship and respect we have for each other." (Aksel) Roger got there by winning his first round match 6-0, 6-0, and then beating another local player Roshan Pandya. Roshan went on to win his consolation round match with Braydon Yu. Then he got a walkover win due to personal circumstances. Antonio Banchs got a first-round bye and beat his second-round opponent - Braiden Powell, before losing to the 4th seed - Sawyer Goudreau. Level 7 (518 Series) - Bethlehem

Bethlehem showed us why it's a hotbed of local junior tennis.  Fifty-Six juniors turned out for the Level 7 tournament there today - the next to last stop before the season-ending championships on August 27 at the Saratoga YMCA.       The 14 and Under Boy's Division was won by Roger Sheng .  Runner up was Aneesh Jakkamsetti .  On the Girl's side, Clare Dooley defeated Isabel Amurao in the Finals. The Boy's 18 & Unders was won by Aaditya Ojha.  He defeated Henri Pothier in the Finals.  The Girl's 18 Division was won by Hope Brown , who beat Jolie Chichak in the Finals.         Congratulations to Beth Kellerman and Scott George for running a great junior tennis event. July 2022 Junior Tournament Results

   We had two fantastic weeks for local junior tournament players. There were four junior tournaments in the Northern Region in just two weekends. A great two weekends for Northern Region junior tennis players. There was also a USTA World Tennis Number Banded event on Monday.  518 Level 7 Tournament at Shenedehowa On Saturday, Shenendehowa hosted the second leg of the 518 Tournament Series, and Chris Hanley did a masterful job. Many local kids played their first USTA tournament, with entries from as far away as Vermont. T Hats off to the Winners, Runners Up, and all who played.
